Acetone in diesel fuel

I quite often used to use acetone in my Vectra when going on long journies like Le Mans last year. I got about 6mpg than i ever had last year.
I'm going this year, but in the 2.5 tdi. Thinking about acetone. Any thoughts?

What percentage of your fuel mix will be acetone?

Is the potential saving in fuel costs worth the possible risk of engine damage, including premature injector/pump wear?

Last year i ran 10ml per 10 litres of fuel. So pretty minimal.

its a trick used in bio fuels or in cooking oil diesel too.
the tinest amount of acetone or nail varnish remover just breaks down the surface tension so the fuel burns easier and cleaner..... if you find your car is smoking this can help. 1 ml per 1 litre is the normal and correct amount

what were your results...3 years on

i tried this many years ago on a non-TD ford engine, had no adverse effects.

was tempted to try on my other half's PD engine but didn't want to risk the pump.

now i have an allroad 2.5 tdi, i fancy giving it a go again.
