Well it Started like this.

On the way to work the Auxillary belt snapped stopping the power steering and alternator from working...the engine was still running and managed to get the next 200 yards to work.... turned the engine off and tried to start it again but would not fire.

Had new belts fitted but still wouldn't start.... Got car towed to garage where they changed the fule filter and glow plugs...still wouldnt start...They told me that it starts with easystart and that it will start when bump started but it wont go off the key...

Picked car up from garage (Only charged £120) oh and they had it for 3 weeks. Bump started it and drove it home. seemed to run ok except for running a bit rich...After leaving it to warm up it started with a bit of a struggle.....

Has anyone else had this problem...and is there a fule pump reset as we are now suspecting it to be this?

I have included a VAG Scan.....

The belt thrown out your timing, posibly the fuel pump belt jumped 1 tooth. I would not drive the car as it is before checking if any dammage has been done to the valves ! I know its an old post but i hope you got it back on the road !

Check the pump timing, this can be done via Vag-Com in basic settings, or using the correct pins etc.

The fuel pumps are a known problem on these engines, plus the don`t always throw up codes.

Check the top of the fuel filter to make sure there are no seal issues.

You can set up a gravity feed to the fuel pump to test the draw of the pump.
Chances are the pump is failing and you need to replace it. The exchange ones are iro £690, plus around £200/£300 to fit.
