    Changing fuel filter 98' 2.5tdi

Hi people, fuel filter on my 98’ 2,5 TDI needs to be changed before winter .
I was not able to find answers to couple of questions. So please help.
Do I need to fill the filter on that model with fuel before installation or bleed the air out of it before connecting all tubes (I do not know if my car has additional electric pump in tank)?
Or I just install the filter, connect all tubes and the car somehow itself gets rid of the air in the system.

    Another thing:
Audi specifies also that occasionally the water should be removed from filter. Is that what the tube with the screw on the filter is for. Is the right procedure that I remove the screw from the tube end, turn on the ignition and then the water/fuel is pressed out through that tube?
Thnks in advance for any clearification.
