On top of the inlet manifold where it meets the hose there are two "valves" which one is the EGR valve? I thought it may be the black actuator on the left hand side but I gather from reading up on things that this may be a valve to kerb the excessive judder when switching off the engine.
 
the black valve is attached to the egr.
 
The EGR valve is silver and round with a vacuum pipe attatched to it.The bit at the bottom in the pic.

You got it.The anti shudder valve closes the flap inside the pipe in the pic.
