Cam belt replacement

Hi, I've decided it's time to change the cam belt on my car seeing as it's now115k on the original one!

I'm going to do the job myself so looking for any advice on the job such as the need for specialist tools etc. I use the car constantly so can't afford to have it sitting in my workshop due to something I've forgotten to get.

    Audi A4 1.9TDi 2002

    Thanks

    Re: Cam belt replacement

    hey

Sorry , I only haver experience with the 2.5 tdi engine, i believe your is much easy but i would recommend the locking kits that you can get so as not to put your timing out..

REplace waterpump and also any guides and tensioners you come across.

When I did mine, I had to go down to gsf half way through the job because i kept on finding pulleys that were grumbling and would rather replace than have to take the whole front end of the car off again and dig through....

That's the part that put me off doing it DIY. If you're happy with removing the front end, I'd suggest getting a kit rather than buying parts separately, then you (ought to) get belt, tensioner, water pump & maybe even auxilliary belts. Good luck.

Ok. well, it sound like an all dayer so will get everything done in one including tensioners etc. Can't seem to find a Haynes manual for this model, would have been nice to have it to refer to.

    Thanks for advice.

My company motor had it done this week. Can't offer any advice but you'll be glad to hear if you do it yourself you'll save a cool 269 plus vat in labour . All the best with it.
