Diesel Engine problems

I have it booked in for it belt change as at 55k at the mo.

I am hoping this is going to remedy what has become a really noisy engine?

Rattle, whirring, just seems like the whole thing is 'loose' and not feeling the best.

Am I expecting a new belt, which I am not entirely sure it required yet, am having a look at it myself this evening.

If it continues, I think a 1.8T might be on the cards.

Any words of wisdom, past experiences from you guys. I know the a4 is a great car, but this engine might not be for me :-(

I thought the cam belt change interval was at least 80,000 miles on the A4 and 60,000 on the A3.

If it does need changing, get them to do the water pump at the same time as it'll save you cash further down the line if you intend to keep it
