Another chip post

This site can translate web pages for you. Just tried it with your link and it has sort of worked. Not quite as indecipherable anyway! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Has anyone ever changed the actual chip in the ECU?
This German e-bay web link is for an actual replacement chip. Just wondered if it was an 'easy' job and what problems might arise. I am more than willing to have a go and report any findings, just wanted any pros or cons, i.e. if the replacement chip didn't work, could it cause damage to the ECU or is it just a case of taking the chipped chip out and putting the original back in.
Please comment.

Me, every day, I use a few grands worth of equipment to do it and see some awful sights of others who do it supposedly knowledgeable!

Easy job? Easy to mess up, I fix a fair few of the mess ups....

I do think some people think it's welding and not soldering!

Oh, just wondered, thought it might be a cheaper option. Oh well, back to saving up then.

I do fix alot of f%* ups for other people... I'd not recommend pulling a 29F800 off with some wick and a weller personally!
