In my never ending quest to reduce boost leaks and pipes popping off, I wonder if a charge cooler might be a good feasible option.

The 405T16 uses the same charge cooler as a 2.5td citroen XM so im pretty sure cooling capabilities would be good enough for my 1.9pd. Units very similar in size can be bought cheap on eBay.

If the unit was fixed to the front of the engine, or even above the rocker cover like some Subaru legacy, there would be no boost pipe flex to a chassis mounted inter-cooler. The only part linking the engine to the chassis would be very flexible water pipes to the precooler rad.

Has anybody a reasonable arguement why a charge cooler should not be used other than heat soaking when sitting in traffic? I dont use the car on the track, but was planning to increase the turbo size later, I highly doubt i will go as far as larger injectors though.
