I removed the oil filler cap the other day while engine was running and there was a bit of smoke coming out. Is this normal or is there something that needs to be done? Seems to be running fine engine code is ake. possible crankcase breather do you think?
any advise would be welcome

Just seen this after checking mine cos there is a slight leak around the injector seals on one bank and I wondered if the breather was blocked .There are some fumes or smoke when the cap is removed but my sons 2.5TDI has exactly the same and the rocker covers are both dry on his so think its normal now.I think that you can hear the pressure release if the breather is completely blocked and the rocker gasket gives up sometimes
