115 or 130?

A mate has just put a deposit down on a 51 plate gt tdi golf. He doesn't know that much about them, but was very pleased with the performance after his test drive. The seller thinks it's a 130 version but I think that it may be a 115, as no six speed box. Is there any way of telling which model it is by looking at the car?

We've got a 130 TDI at work (2001 Y plate) and it is a 6 speed. I think he is getting the runaround. Our one has a Silver T but Red D and I so get him to check the badging on the back. Someone who has one will give you more info hopefully because I have an A3 so I am only going on the one from my work.

There should be a sticker in the boot where the spare wheel is stating the power in kilowatts. 96 is the 130

when buying my golf 3 years ago 5 speed was not available on 130 only on 115 even then 5 speed was money off optional on 115
