From what i understand its mainly the newer diesels that gets the engine light come on, cause they got a sensor after the EGR and they dont like it if there is no gasses detected.

I think most diesels from the 90s and early 2000s are ok.
 
I got a fault code on my old 1.9tdi vrs skoda and also engine shut down shudder which was annoying.

I regretted having it fitted tbh.
 
Interesting to know, thanks. Maybe I'll just clean it and go from there.
 
Mine isnt hooked up, completely bypassed and doesnt throw any codes.

i trialed this on my 2004 2.0tdi a3 8p shape . disconected the egr bloeked it off . it did pick up quicker , but then eml light came on.drove it around a week then decided to put it back to standard and the eml light went out after a couple of short runs lol. my baby a3 fixed her self lol
 
Many Pd from 2003 on would throw a code if they sense the EGR fow to be too small... Early pd had no issues.
