    Porsche 997 Turbo

Porsche 997 Turbo – Dodo Enhancement Detail

As a daily driver with 55k miles and some 560bhp this car gets driven. Hard. Very little signs of previous protection and pretty grubby ‘on the edges’.

    Product
    • 303 Aerospace Protectant
    • AutoGlym Fast Glass
    • AutoGlym Vinyl and Rubber care
    • AutoSmart G101
    • AutoSmart Tardis
    • Autosol
    • Chemical Guys JetSEAL901
    • Dodo Juice Limeprime
    • Dodo Juice SuperNatural wax
    • Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild
    • Meguiars Last Touch
    • Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel
    • Sonus Green Clay
    • Zaino Z8

    Before

    After

    Inspection shots:

First job was to clean the wheels, arches and calipers. A mixed bag of products used here including AutoSmarts G101, Tardis and a degreaser.

Sills, engine and shuts were then focused on. Again, plenty of G101, various brushes and microfibre cloths.

A thorough pressure wash given which was immediately followed by some snowfoam.

Allowed to dwell and soften the built-up dirt whilst I ran around and hit the more fiddly areas with a brush or two..

Pressure washed off from bottom to top ensuring every inch of the bodywork was ‘hit’.

Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild used to lubricate the two bucket wash.

Time to clay.. Sonus Green used again today with Last Touch as the lube. The car feels rough to touch; it’s a daily driver and gets tracked from time to time. I’m expecting this to be a drawn out process..

First, little signs of previous protection:

Clay bar before starting high on the roof:

    Not too bad:

The sides however, were a different story:

After this initial test section on the N/S door I went on to remove all tar traces before carrying on. Out with AutoSmart’s Tardis and a few microfibres.

After tar removal was complete, the sides were much easier to work with and the clay bar less likely to be instantly ruined!

A quick blast with the pressure washer to remove surface residues and then water sheeted over the panels to aid the drying stage:

A luxury deep pile drying towel used to pick up the remaining water and then out with the Black Baron Vehicle Dryer to eliminate the stood water from window jams, gaps, lights, wheels etc etc

Whilst drying the front end, I was covered in surplus amount of leaves – with these removed, I wonder if the car responds better now?! Restricted air-flow and all that..?

Finally dried and ready to go inside:

Before tucking it away in the garage however, I made the most of the suns brief appearance:

Bonnet suffered quite badly from stone chips:

The garage lights proved to be great swirl spotters!

A yellow polishing pad hooked up to the Chicago rotary and Limeprime put to work.

    Attempted 50/50:

With a break in the clouds and the suns re-appearance I moved outside to capture the last potential few ‘after’ photographs.

Vehicle moved back inside and Dodo Juice Supernatural wax applied. Alloys sealed with JetSEAL901, tyres dressed, windows cleaned inside and out and exhaust tips ‘polished’ with AutoSol, wirewool and lots of elbow grease (lots of caked on carbon deposits remained as I was unable to shift with the tools at hand)

A final wipedown some hours later followed by some lengthy chats with the owner and we’re finished.

Interior Detail to follow upon my return to perform a similar detail on the households’ Mercedes GL420.

    Thanks for reading.

Stunning work as always chap. Not one of the better looking 911s in my eyes (not being a major Porsche fan), but certainly has a very mean front end!

Another top job Jimmeh. It may sound sad but I actually enjoy reading these type of write ups. As a novice I never truly realised how much work was involved.

PS. I haven't forgotten about your offer i've just been really busy as of late.
