I have just purchased an A4 cab in dolphin grey with a red roof and red leather. The car is in excellent condition for its age, so am very keen to improve and maintain the condition.

I have read some contrasting arguments about leather care, so whats the concensus. Whats the best product and process for cleaning and maintaning red leather?

The roof has a few dirty marks on it. What should I use to clean to hood and waterproof it.

I dont have an endless budget, but am willing to buy good products if they do the best job

For cleaning the roof I would recommend the Renovo 3 stage kit.
Stage 1 - Shampoo Cleaner
Stage 2 - Colour Restorer (however I don't know if they do a red and if it's not faded then you won't need this bit anyway)
Stage 3 - Ultraproofer

Just buy stage 1 and stage 3 on there own. It's the best stuff that I have used on mine. Check e-bay or google "elkparts" as this is where I got mine from in the past.

For roofs, I use the 303 convertible cleaner and 303 fabric guard. Seems to work OK. Heard good things about the Renovo it though..

Leather, I think it has to be LTT's range.

Auto Ultra Maintain

Water based, so, the product isn't just going to 'sit on the surface' and attract dirt like the balms, conditioners and oily feeds will. You've heard all of this before by the sounds of it..

I used to use Gliptone, but, after being educated in the world of LTT, I certainly won't be going back to my old ways.

As above in terms of the leather care; water-based products are usually best for modern vinyl-coated leathers, and we also offer a number of fully water based products that produce excelent results. In particular, the Blackfire duo are awesome, as are the Gloss It duo...

On my old M3 convertible I used to use the Autoglym fabric roof cleaning kit. As usual, bargain to be found on the bay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUTOGLYM-Soft...vr_id=&cguid=c343af621230a0aad264b094fefdb5d6.

That always gave me a really lovely finish on the roof, and the water resistancy of the protector is really good.

Up to you what you use at the end of the day, but I'd recommend giving it a try first - cheapest does not necessarily mean worst....

Also, Autoglym Leather Cleaner & Care Creams are very good for leather. I rate those as well.

(I sould like an Autoglym salesman!!)

I am tempted by the autoglym stuff, as its readily available from Halfords and reasonably cheap. Is it worth the hassle of ordering stuff and paying a little more?
