Remapping and insurance - UK

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a remap for my A4 2.4. Not sure on the company yet, but concerned about the insurance. Would the insurance company ever know that a car had been remapped? Does it effect the warrenty on the car?

Anyone know of a good place to look for remaps in/near Manchester?

Thanks,

BB

Always worth telling the insurance about a remap, but to be honest you'll only see minimal gains through a chip, so you have to balance the cost of the chip and insurance against the 10-15hp gain.

Admiral.com do quotes on their website for up to about 25% BHP increases and don't seem to add too much to the premium (you can get a quote without the mod then go back and get a quote with the mod).

Elephant.co.uk does the same (same company just slightly different rates).

The cost difference for my car was tiny which is why I am now insured with them.

Try Just VW in Haydock just down the A580 East Lancs Road.

They are VW Audi Seat and Skoda specialists and the owner used to be the head technician at Rigby Turners ltd.
They are very reasonable and knowledgeable, worth looking at for all your cars needs.

Hi,

I asked the same question about warranty and the answer I got was : stealers may not see that you've chipped it unless they drive it hard and notice the difference in power (is that ever gonna happen?) and if they do well it depends... on how your dealer feel about it
Most chippers do 1year waranty on their mod anyway

Insurances again most of the chaps in here (me included) think that you should declare it
I reckon it will not increase your premium by very much
I got quoted £300 for 25% power increase with direct line on my A3
