Hi all, was just wondering if there is a price threshold for 3rd party cover? Or does it depend on what group it is? As I might be getting a 2nd hand import as a fun car but just want to insure it for 3rd party fire and theft. Looking at about 4k, is that too high to be eligible for that?

This is a good point. I've never understood why insurance companies stipulate a limit as it's none of their business whether you choose to have an expensive car only insured 3rd party.
I don't know what the limit is and I guess it varies from company to company. £4k should be alright, but if you're going 3rd party only just lie to them about how much it is worth!

I Just insured my car with admiral, anything below £5000 and you can get third party, they were cheap for insurance too.

cheers

the reasons behind it is that if you want to insure an expensive car 3rd party then they assume your not gonna look after it , and dont really give a sh*t and hence would rather not insure you in the first place .
