How long should I leave fresh paintwork before detail?

I'm picking my car up from the body shop either tonight or tomorrow with a newly painted bonnet and bumper and some roof rust repaired. I intend on doing a full detail as soon as I can really but wondered how long I should leave the fresh paint to harden before I attempt it?

I would leave for at least 3-4 days to harden the lacquer, but week to be sure & even then just watch the polisher, test a small area 1st where it isnt really seen, if ok then do rest.

Thanks Nigel. I'll probably give it 2 weeks to be 100% sure. I'll just give it a wash this weekend then.

As long as the bodyshop cured the paint chemically and by low temp baking then you will be fine to polish and protect straight away. Ask the bodyshop!
