I can't believe this actually happened, but driving down the motorway at the weekend, following a lorry with a porta-cabin on the back. Me and the wife chatting away and all of a sudden there is the loudest bang. I thought something like a brick had been thrown off a bridge, but we were in the open. The missus thinks whatever it was came off the back of the lorry.....f**k!!! Anyway, stopped in the services half expecting to find a dent the size of a brick in the roof, but hoping it hit the sunroof instead as a dink in the glass would be the lesser evil. Turns out, whatever it was hit just in front the sunroof on the strongest part of the roof. This has left a small ding and what looks like 2 scratches 5mm long. My question is, would you get it repaired? If yes, would you use one of these smart repair companies. To be truthful the ding is very small and you need to actually look for it. The paint seems to have held up, but this is the first new car I have had, its only 2 months old and knowing there is a mark there is bugging the hell out of me. I would have tried to get pictures but the car is filthy.

Me personally, I'd get it properly fixed by either a decent dent removal specialist (if the paint is not fractured) or a decent bodyshop, and would avoid a smart repair at all costs. Check the paint very carefully - if it is at all fractured then the risk of corrosion in the long run will be higher, so again, if in doubt get it fixed properly. Lucky escape by the sounds of it!
