Hi Guys i'm new to this detailing, i've always been into keeping my cars clean as in every weekend cars washed, dry'd, polished/waxed etc

but just been reading loads of polishedbliss's post and really need some help

I have a 2003 A4 in black - paint work is good condition, odd stone chip here and there and also has a few swirl marks and light scratches but nothing to serious

I clay'd the car for the first time this weekend using the maguris quick detailing spray and clay then sealed it with the maguris wax this has improved the look alot but now i'm addicted and needing help.

First of what Alloy wheels cleaner should i get? i have 19" RS4 replica wheels there in good condition so want to keep them clean and protect them.

What tyre dressing should i get, id prefer a wet look and long lasting

NOW i'm stuck what else do you guys recommend for cleaning, drying and polishing? i'm not going to be using a machine polisher yet!

I've read post where people say everybody body prefers different but i want to no what you would use if you where me?

Also any links to the products you reccomend would be helpful, ill try and get some pics up of my car but it's raining today

wheel cleaning

easy obtainable stuff is meguiars hot rims from halfords, tis all i ever used up until recently and it very good at cleaning wheels. recently changed to bilberry wheel cleaner (sourced from cleanyourcar.co.uk) mainly due to that you can dilute it down so works out cheaper in the long run, same cleaning power though.

using a bit of sponge for the faces, and EZ wheel brush for the backs etc (also from cleanyourcar.co.uk)

work great on my 17" rs4's

cleaning, drying and polishing - there's so many ways out there for doing these, all of them correct

paul i have a black 8l s3. i am also new and trying to slowly build up my armoury of cleaning products to use. so far i ise megs wheel brighter for the alloys, megs hyperwash for the pre wash and wash and blackfire long lasting tyre gel. all of which i highly recomend. i have also bought the poorboys world swirl remover to get rid of swirls but yet to use it as i have no sealant at present. all have been bought from polished bliss. the products i have used so far have been great. hope that helps bud. oh yea and for a sealant im not 100% sure what ill use yet. best bet might be to contact polished bliss or read their manuals on the top of the page, thatll give you a good start.

Starting with your alloys. If they are in good condition, I would suggest that you avoid anything acidic and consider a combination of just normal shampoo and possibly Menzerna Gel 7.5 Wheel & Tyre Cleaner if you find brake dust is quick to build up. Once you have sealed the rims properly (I'll get to this in a moment) you won't need anything stronger. When cleaning them, I would recommend a Meguiars Microfibre Mitt for doing the faces, and a Wheel Back Brush for the backs. Links to these products mentioned are here...
