Petrol stain / marks under filler cap.

    Hi,

I've had a search for petrol stains on the bodywork but it seems with petrol being the cost it is today clearly everyone is being a bit more careful.

Anyway, it seems that I have (somehow) got 3 drips of petrol below my filler cap.

Now on ibis, its turned it a slight piss yellow colour... what can I use get shut of it these petrol marks???

    TIA

    Hey Kontra,

Have you tried anything over and above washing it yet?
At a guess, I'm betting some polish would shift the staining as it will only be the very top of the clear coat that has stained.

I'm sure one of the pro's will correct me if I'm wrong though mate!!!

Yeah Jamie, tried cleaning it, but it made zero difference.

Tried a tiny bit of tar remover, again same result.

Then I thought I better quit messing and ask a pro!

I googled 'remove petrol stain car' and came up with a fat zero too! Must be an ibis thing??

    Surprised it's not shifted it!
If you can find someone near you with a Porter Cable polisher or something and a slightly more abbrassive polish - that may lift it.

I have one you could borrow, but I'm in the South East....

Seems like it is a polish out job... I'll try and grab 1 of the mobile valeters when they come round here.

Mate, to be honest, i used to use a sligt bit of T Cut every now and then with a large amount of wax and polish over it, that did the trick for me.

Spray a bit of flash floor cleaner (5 squirts approx)into a cap, then spray some after shave (preferably Paul Smith or similar), then finally 6 drops of vinegar. Stir it up. That should shift it.

    P.s. - Really people... dont..

If a decent tar & glue remover doesn't shift it, then polishing out the stain by hand or machine is the next option - please see the sticky guide at the top of the car care section for details on recommended products and methods for Audi paint.
