What lamp to use for inspection?

When you guys take a picture of the paint defects, I see that you have a lamp of some sort which helps bring out swirls etc. What kind is it? Is it anything special or will any halogen lamp do?

Also, whilst I'm here.... I've always wondered what SUDS means?! Is it just soapy water?

And whats a RID? Sorry for the noobish questions

For general swirl spotting and checking your work, a 500W halogen work lamp from B&Q will do the job nicely for just 25! However, if you really get into it then a dedicated check light like the 3M Sun Gun is much better, but a huge amount of dosh. And I mean huge!
