Following on from the seed sown by our friends down south, we thought we would give a little something back to the detailing community that supports us so well by hosting a series of five themed breakfast club meets over the coming summer months. The dates and themes will be...

Saturday 17th May - How to wash your car safely and effectively

Saturday 21st Jun - How to clean your paint safely and effectively

Notes: The topic to be covered is paint decontamination, both by chemical (degreasers and tar removers) and physical (clay) means. Our C2 is going to be the test mule and everyone will be able to have a go at claying and gain some confidence.

Saturday 19th Jul - How to safely polish your paint by hand or machine

Saturday 23rd Aug - How to safely clean and protect your engine bay

Saturday 20th Sep - How to safely clean and protect the interior of your car

All of the meets will run from 9am to 1pm. The content of the demonstrations at each meet will be aimed squarely at the enthusiast, the aim being to pass on the knowledge that will make for better, safer car care in the future. The point of these meets is to provide a social setting for learning; attendence is open to all who want to learn and participate. Following on from this, it goes without saying that these meets will not be commercialised - there won't be any special offers put on, and the stockroom will remain closed until the very end of the meet (I guess it's inevitable that someone will want to buy something!).

Being a breakfast club style meet series, I am looking into the food situation. However, until I get an idea of numbers, I am going to hold off booking a van to supply hot food. So, for the first meet hot food will only be available from the local Somerfield's in the village, two minutes down the road. If numbers are good at the first meet then I will try to get on-site catering for the rest of the meet series - bacon rolls would be good!

A final point; if it rains hard on days when outdoor demonstrations are scheduled then we may change the theme at the last minute and switch to working on scrap panels indoors - please bear this in mind if travelling far for a specific demonstration. We will be at the mercy of the weather for the meets scheduled for the 17th May and 23rd August. All that remains to be said is we hope to see many of you at the first meet next weekend, when either Angela's new C2 VTS or Clark's new WR1 will get the full wash treatment!

Just a quick reminder folks, the 1st breakfast club meet will be tomorrow morning, hope to see some of bright and breezy at 9am! Okay, I'll settle for bleary eyed and still drunk, all the same. :)

Dont suppose you know if anyone will be videoing the wash techniques? I'd come along but its one heck of a journey for me. The write ups I have read are good but would be better to see it in practice.

Rich,

How did the breakfast club go then?

I've missed out again by being down in sunny Brunei.

I'll be back in soon, as it appears this bug has bitten me, I'll hopefully be onshore for the next meet.

PS my white avant looked spectacular after it's 1st go of the Acrylic but that was 5 weeks ago now and I don't trust the missus to wash her when I'm away. So I hope i don't need to start again???

It'll be fine after just 5 weeks... hell, our C2 was fine after four months with only very occasional washing over the 06-07 winter months. Just wash it carefully when you next get chance, then add a fresh coat of Trigger. Job done! Breakfast club meet no.1 write up just about to be posted... :icon_thumright:

Bumpety bump! The second meet is this coming Saturday folks, and the topic to be covered is paint decontamination, both by chemical (degreasers and tar removers) and physical (clay) means. Our C2 is going to be the test mule and everyone will be able to have a go at claying and gain some confidence. The start time will be 9am, running through to lunchtime, and we hope to see some of you on the day! :icon_thumright:
