    Pressure Washers... A bad thing?

I was always told never to use a pressure washer on my car as theres the risk of damaging paintwork. Is this nonsense? The professionals out there - Polished Bliss and others too - whats your views?

Pressure Washers < asked about similar issue and as you can see think its a matter or choice proffesional Detailer replied on this thread who uses pressure washer.

I think its more to do with if you are going to use one making sure its not too powerfull as you can damage the paint . However I think were they come into use is for those hard to get to places and heavily soiled areas like wheels and arches but hey thats only my view

as long as its not too powerfull its fine

i cant not use a pressure washer because our normal water pressure is keek!

the only downside of using a pressure washer in my eyes is that water gets into places a lot easier - eg lights! :X

You will be fine with any normal "home" pressure washer or the ones at garages as they are limited by law. The only real problem is if you get hold of a proper commercial PW - they can put out some serious pressure - in a former job I used one on a car with a poor "blowover" respray job and it DID take off the paint.

Up to 100-110 bar is fine, and recommended. Anything more is courting danger territory. I wouldn't be without a pressure washer now, both at home and at work - not only are they ideal for rinsing out cruddy areas such as arches, etc, but also ideal for applying foam products, via dedicated foam lances.

This is the one I use and I can't rate it high enough.

Karcher K7.85M Pressure Washer 160 Bar.
Got mine from a local ScrewFix Depot during an opening sale.
I'm an optimist but I don't think it helps much.

So which would be better for the car, The Karcher K3.70B Pressure Washer or Karcher K3.91MDB+ - , both are 1700w motor, and 380LPHr, but the K3.91 has the added detergent tank. I will be using the AutoBrite Foam lance so is the detergent tank necessary, or just handy for washing patios etc.

We use the K3.70B, works great and highly portable, no need for anything beefier or with built in tank. Good prices here...
