Whats the best wax and sealant for Ice Silver?

I've been using megs #16 wax since I've had the car. Whats better? I'm thinking Dodo or Poor boys?

Also would it be worth using a sealant. I've never used one before. Recommendations?

Cheers

Dude I saw it, looks awesome! I'm looking for the 'better products' to treat the S3 :nyah: I did a 9 hour clean detail on mine last year so looking to do the same with some better stuff and maybe use a sealant.

I was thinking along the lines of;
Wash with megs nxt gen shampoo (because I have a load left)
dry with micro fibre then dodo clay bar with megs ultimate detailer
wash again with above, dry then megs deep crystal paint cleaner

With it being silver I think its quite hard to get that warm wet look that I'm after so I was thinking
Chem Guys Ez creme glaze
CG jet seal 109
Finished off with the Collinite 476 double wax??

don't dry the car between the wash and clay stage.... absolutely no point to that, plus maybe think about adding a couple of stages before claying I.e. a Decon spray and tar remover.

concentrate on getting the car as clean as possible and polished, this gives far better results than slapping some wax/sealant on it.

that being said, I find Zaino products always give good results on silver...

Wash
angel wax clay and megs ultimate detailer as lube
megs paint cleaner
Autoglym Hd Polish
Angelwax panel cleaner
Angelwax ti22 sealant
Angelwax Ag wax.
Autoglym glass polish

I really like the Hd Polish

To be completely honest the AG was an absolute nightmare to use as I found that you can't leave it on too long as I couldn't buff it off. I had to use the panel cleaner to get it off and reapply leaving less time between putting it on and taking it off. I also found that it was hard to apply the AG wax which had a silver pigment in it using the applicator pad without getting it on the black rubber and plastic trim. But it has given a really nice finish. It almost looks white!

Auto glym glass polish is also very good and the water just beads of the glass now.

Also whilst the pictures are up.... I'm thinking of changing the colour of the alloys to make the car more BE (as it is a BE) but I'm not sure what colour. Graphite, anthracite etc or leave them silver? What do people think?

A mate of mine has the same colour a3 with same wheels, he's had his wheels done in a smokey silver colour, will find out the name.. But they look gorgeous!

Im going to get mine done smoked chrome from the wheel specialist, its done by hand where the base coat is black then a silver flecked paint is applied by hand to the face, its basically gunmetal/anthracite but a little bit different! This is what it looks like against the car!

Cheers Brod. Ooooh that sounds good Dave and I like those rims, are they Merc? Let me know and get a pic up when they're on.

Yeah they where TWS's tester rims, AMG merc ones! The black is a standard powder coat and then the fleck is applied by hand. Are you localish to ellesmere port mate (i remember talking to you the other month) as thats where they are based and they can do it all in a day for about £300-£350 depending on what deals they can do at the time!

Theres a restorer local to me which I think I'm going to use but I'd like to see a picture of those rims on yours

Just make sure they do a proper job and do the whole wheel as opposed to just the face! Im not getting mine done yet unfortunately probably be late in the year if not next year! :(

Yeah he strips the whole wheel and does what ever you want £110 a wheel but apparently they are immaculate. He does ferrari and porsche wheels too. I'll probably wait until after winter too. Just looking at colour options and ideas

Jeez £110 a wheel is expensive, TWS will do the same job for £300 if you barter them down! Done in a day too the finish is immaculate only need to look at their Facebook page to see the results they do all sorts from the exotic stuff to old school projects!

Hmmm I have the same colour S3 and tbh, I cant really see any point in spending a fortune getting her detailed really as this colour with just a wash and a normal polish works.... If it was a darker colour, then yes but when I polish mine, takes me about 2hrs max, and then take a look at it, shes gleaming and you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference unless you were a total expert.

She either looks clean and polished, or dirty imo :)

Thats the joys of having silver and white cars mate......they show very little swirls. Mine too is either clean or minging....no inbetween.

My last full detail and protection application was done back in April, it still looks as good as it did then after i wash it and throw on some QD :) Only thing that makes the car look dirty is the wheels, that should stop once i get them done in a darker colour :)
