Paint Protection - Is it a) Necessary b) Good to have or c) Waste of money?

    Hi All,

I've just purchased my second s3 in the space of a month (long story, however last s3 was written off in an accident, insurance paid me out instead of sourcing a new car) Anyway I digress. Last time I paid $800 for paint protection (negotiated from 1300).

I am just wondering what the fourms views were on sourcing paint protection. Is it something that is essential to have to protect your car or really just a great way to line my friendly dealerships pockets?

    Cheers!

Depends on how much you like cars and how bad your OCD is....

Option 2 is the more reasonable one... it's number 1 for me mind you!

I would go to a professional detailer, they will do a much better job and it will be cheaper.

All depends on the detailer.... lol

"professional" is such an overused word these days... ;-)

Reputable would be a better word I think. But yeh, take it to a good detailer.

I've seen a few mentions of this recently. Certainly my local detailer who I know, trust and would have no hesitation in recommending is in it: Pro Valets - Pro Valets - Find approved valeters & detailers in the UK

Thanks for the responses guys. I've booked in a paint protection with a detailer that was highly recommended to me the day after delivery.
