Time for a change of career

After 34 years of doing the same job {coal miner}, I have recently been made redundant, i have tried 8 months in the building trade and its not for me ,so i think its time for a new direction....
For the last 25/30 years I have always looked after my own cars keeping them pristine, so I am looking at getting a proper qualification in detailing/valeting and maybe earn a living doing something I actually enjoy , but im unsure of the best way to do this, as there are so many sites offering training and I don't want to get stung enrolling on the wrong one,
so I am looking for your thoughts on the best route to take, and would appreciate any advice that you guys n gals can offer me....

He used to be main trainer for a large company so has an extensive history and trained plenty.

I know a few detailers and its all about experience,they started off doing it as a sideline and then got bigger.

need to start on the basics, Autosmart do valeting training at their place outside birmingham there's two courses with a certificate at the end, Autoglyms is harder to get on. one course then a lifeshine course after that. If you do them and like it then look for machine polishing classes run by some of the Detailer's on detailing world. Very easy to startup but hard to get a foothold and stay in the game. good luck.

I advise you join the forum below as the advice on there is 2nd to none. Its a lot better than DW and everyone is happy to assist and help out with info and tips.

I went to a group training day at KDS and would really love to do a 1to1 one day as in my opinion there is no-one better out there than Kelly!

This is something I am also interested in pursuing as a back up if my law degree/traineeship at my work does not pan out or I do not enjoy it for whatever reason whereas detailing is a massive hobby of mine. I know the basics of detailing however throughout the summer I will be attending detailing courses to try and vamp my knowledge and have a few mates cars to work on to get a portfolio together. If you were North of the border I would suggest going to Defined Details course that he has set up for the end of this month/start of next. Maybe you will still be interested despite the travelling. He is one of the most respected detailers in the country.
