HELP - Fuel Computer on DIS not working properly?

Hi the Fuel Meter on DIS is not functioning Properly on my 2001Y 225 TT. Ran out of fuel the other day as a result - it told me i had 45 miles to go! 'Miles to go reading' is Fluctating when driving very randomly.

Anyone else had this problem? is the cold weather to blame? whats the fix and how much is it likely to set me back!!!!!

How random would you say it is? remember that the standard rule of thumb is that when its in the red you have exactly 2 gallons of fuel to get you home, now if you've been wellying it on that two gallons then yes, the reading will differ.. I have one on a TDI and it does change considerably pending on driving style...
