This is copied from another forum so sorry if some smilies and names don't make sense
Just a small(ish) write up on my detail.
Thanks to Ben (B17BLG) for giving me good help and advice on which products to use etc. Being pre warned it would have been easier to resurrect Michael Jackson than break through Audi Paint
It was my first proper time using a DA.
I ordered these bits from Elite Car Care (a few bits aren't from Elite obviously).
First wheels were rinsed and cleaned with Bilberry, admittedly they're still filthy, they're coming off tomorrow as its getting lowered so ill touch up the calipers and fully decontaminate the alloys tomorrow
Snow foamed with Elite snow foam
2BM then rinsed
Trix was now applied. There was no heavy, obvious tar or iron contaminant so I sprayed over the large build up areas and left to work itself, not agitating it. God this stuff stinks.
Car again rinsed then clayed with Bilt Hamber medium clay and some home made lube.
It was only clayed last month so didnt expect it to pick up much, which you can see.
Again it was 2BM then snow foamed with the remaining foam.
Finally rinsed and dried then rolled into the shade. Although we have a few garages they're all full so had to do the rest of my work outside.
As you can see it wasn't a bad finish but it wasnt a full deep black which was hard to capture in camera.
It was covered in light/medium swirl marks. Don't think the previous owner was much of a detailer.
My first weapon of choice. DAS 6 pro, orange pad and Megs 105 compound. The waffle pad wasnt my choice it was free
A 50/50 with the left half having gone through the first stage
Unfortunately I don't have many more pictures as time was beginning to catch up.
I then went over all with a White hex logic pad and Megs 205 finishing compound which left me here
The **** on the picture is stuff stuck in the camera lense not on the car lol. The paint is spotless!
Jetseal 109 was now applied. Left 15 minutes to haze then buffed off.
Starting to get a nice deep shine now
Finally, a coat of DodoJuice Purple Velvet after 15 minutes since buffing the jetseal to allow for any final curing.
Oh my god it smells amazing. So close to eating it! Made a nice mess of the applicator though
Now for some final pictures.
With its German Cousins
Tomorrow wheels will be done.
Then over the next few days ill be doing the trim etc. Ran out of time today.
Overall, mega mega chuffed with the results.
