Morning all,

Can someone tell me if I need to cover anything before getting the pressure washer on my engine bay? Ive read various threads & guides which say to cover 'sensetive' parts with foil or something to avoid water saturation, but Im not sure exactly what?!

IMAG0393

Things like battery and filter 'look' sealed...but i dont want to cause more harm than good.

Have CG degreaser & brushes, but will need some sort of protectant.

Thanks in advance

I washed my S8 engine yesterday...

Used my degreaer, sprayed everywhere, worked in with brushes... when happy, I turned the power washer onto a low setting and jet washed it... I'm just careful not to stand to close nor keep the spray on any point for a while...

after that, a quick wipe with a drying towel, then switched the engine on to help dry out and cover in 303 aerospace...

I normally do this with all modern engines, no need to cover anything (IMO)

Cheers.... I spray (a lot) and leave for anything up to 4 hours... and quickly give them a wipe from there... works really well on all the 'plastic fantastic' engines...

S***!!! That looks the nuts! Thanks for the replies..I was tempted just to use a hose to rinse as the main cleaning is done by the degreaser product. I shall acquire some 303 and have a go next weekend..

Anyone know of a good mobile mechanic in case it goes t*ts up???

I snow foam the bay on a low pressure, adgetate it with detail brush, rinse off with low pressure then degreaser. After its all rinsed off and dried, 303 it :) works everytime.

Nice..I have both so might give it a foam and if anything mode sinister remains I'll have at it with the degreaser

Gracias..

Also, that plastic faring with the Audi rings on can obviously be removed and cleaned separately....or would you leave it on?

Well, finally had a crack at the engine bay. This was as brave as I dare get..

Before..

After..

Hit it with degreaser & a brush..then rinsed with a hose & some 303 Aerospace protectant. Not great..but a damn sight better than before!!
