eBay remote Keys - Any good?

Hi,

I've seen loads of remote VAG keys on eBay for £20-£30. They all say that they can be re-programmed for your car and that the dealer can replace the blade.

Has anyone done this? How much does it cost? How do I know if the key will work with my car before I purchase it (my current remote key has 2 buttons, most on eBay have 3)?

you do need to find one with 2 buttons, with three buttons the remote tends to drop the code, the blades can be changed by knocking a pin out, but the key will need to be recoded as the chip is the the plastic part of the key, all depends on what you actually want to do.

Is it possible just to buy the casing due to wear and tear, or as an alternative, purchase a decent one from ebay and swop the casing around?
