As many of us know having nice clean paintwork does not come easy.. Most weekends during the summer months most of us would rather spend the weekend cleaning,polishing our pride and joys so they look there absolute best even if it's only for a few day's or until it rain's. The lad's at PRD take great care in making sure the car's Paint, Engine and Interior get the full treatment..

11 Years of Neglect



Many Detailers would at this Point use a pressure washer along with a heavy duty degreaser sprayed all over the engine bay whilst the engine still running, they mainly do it this way to cut down on time, not because it's a better form of cleaning as some would state. We do Not us pressure washers on engine's NEVER.


The only equipment we need to clean the Golf's Engine Bay as many of the Golf's Part's are 11 Year's old




We used G101 and let dwell.

Parts need to be removed.







Using various brushes Hard and Soft we Got to work.

We used good quality Metal Polish to brighten thing's up

I need to do mine.

Car came back from the bodyshop after being repaired following being driven into and I opened the bonnet today to top up the washer bottle and......... filler dust....all over the engine.

Its minging, I'm a bit pissed off about it as I'd just spent 2 hours wiping it off the inside of the windows, plastics, seats and using the vacuum to get it out of all the carpets.

So 101, some brushes and a water sprayer to shift it?. I've taken the plastic engine cover off and cleaned that but the dust is in every area under the bonnet

thas not good tom first thing id do is go back round the bodyshop and ask them what the hell they doing were was it damaged if theres tha much dudst it id question if they patched anything up with filler as oppose to re-pairing it properly. especially if someone drove into to you & they were footing the bill should be no filler or next to none as parts should be replaced insted of being fixed. i went thro much the same in march with mine and told them straight its an Audi not a mk5 escort dont want no filler on it lol

i would not be impressed if my car came back looking like that i saw the state darren's car was in it was disgusting , anyway yeah some g101 and a lot of tlc will get it looking new again just take your time and it will come out better

the bump did the front wing, corner of the bumper, drivers door and rear quarter....so pretty hefty. Had a massive fight with them to actually repair it in the first place as the insurance co wanted to write it off. They were going to write it off over the cost of replacing the rear quarter but the bodyshop guy said he could repair it to get the cost down..... so I'm guessing it ended up having a slab of filler in there.

its an 11 year old A3... so not the end of the world if its now got a bit of filler in it!

She was coming the other way and turned across my path to go into a drive way. Low speed (25mph) and her front right corner went all the way down the drivers side of my car. Started just before the front wheel on the front bumper.

She coughed to not looking so her insurance paid out, eventually.

The paint was immaculate pre accident, its been repainted and the colour match is spot on but on close inspection there are a couple of little bits where I can see sanding marks under the clearcoat. Only in a few hard to spot areas though so not the end of the world. Its an 11 year old car thats worth a couple of grand so I've calmed down a lot about it now!

It was lovely and clean before...

pretty much same sort of damage as mine the door got off quite light looking at the wing and the quater G101 will shift the dust no probs as Fran said but if u have access to air line try blow it off first as its jus dust

or yeah forgot to mention that CMD Colin of prdetailing - Home fought my case against Audi and we Won! the shody repairs were re-done thanks to Colins Expertise

To be fair I'm happy enough with mine, it'll certainly do anyway!

Going to pop to a mates with an airline and give it a blast off. I might leave the proper clean till after winter as it'll only get filthy again when the salt starts appearing on the roads.

Tom if most of the damage was filled like you have stated, what you need to do is not to add any waxes,polish or sealant's as the repaired area's will need time to cure (few weeks) the paint need's to gas out, just wash the car. Like Darren (drmole) has said bodyshops big or small all have there own standard's it comes down to costing's and time, there are very few bodyshops that will go that extra mile as they just don't care.

Cheers for the tip, I'd not touched it for a week after it was picked up and only washed it yesterday. I'll give it a few weeks before going anywhere near it with any sort of wax.
