    first time

Ive just bought a meguires da polisher and polishing kit, it comes with 105 ultra cut compound, ultra finishing polish ,and synthetic sealant is it recommended to use the cutting compound then the polish just to remove light swirls ,( been there since picking the car up brand new) and light scratches. Im scared to take off too much paint on my first attempt at machine polishing.

General rule is to start with the lightest combo first (pad/polish) then if that does the job you have removed the minimum amount of paint. Practice is the key, if you can find a scrap panel then have a play on that then it doesn't matter if you damage it.
