Amongst the kit I have been slowly building ready for the big day ! , I have a Lake Country Light Cut Hand Pad, just want to check that the 'dimpled' side is the side I use on the cars surface? I assume it is otherwise why bother with it but better check i am going to be doing this right. !!

what product are you going to be using with the LC pad mate?

You can use either or indeed both sides. I tend to have the flat side onto the paint surface.

Not really: the theory with the dimpled side is that the dimples retain product to allow a more even spread of product over the surface.

I just prefer the flat side in the same way I prefer a flat machine pad to a dimpled machine pad.

No difference in cut between the two.
