A write-up on this weekends detail

The subject of this weekends detail 1997 A4 Avant TDI - 220k on the clock of this old girl ...just run in then lol

The brief was to bring back to life the interior and exterior and a winter protection as a daily driver and family car. You will from the pictures that this is very much a functional family car - kids and dog has taken its toll over the christmas period.

Wasn't able to start till about midday so given the time frame there was limited exterior correction that could be achieved, so elected for an AIO treatment followed by winter wax and tackle the swirls another time. I took the position that trying to do this on Audi paiht in the time would have probably been futile, considering how much time the rest of the cleaning looked like it would take.

Product Used:
AS G101 APC
AB Magifoam
ONR (as wash, qd, clay lube)
Espuma Revolution
Espuma RD50
Espuma Fabricare
Espuma Dasheen
Espuma Nu Car fragrance
Espuma Crystal Green
CarPro Iron X
AS Tardis
Yellow poly-clay
Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Strong
VP Dionysus Trim Glitz
Britemax
AB Cherry Glaze
Colinite 845

Various cloths/pads/brushes/mf's used but worthy of note and just love are Vikan Brushes, Envy Brushes, Eurow Blue Fluffy towels, Uber yellow towels, sonus der wonder pads. I think these excel at what they do IMO.

Max my assistant and the detailing arsenal.... much to the bemusement of the neighbours

Sprayed down with G101 APC and left to dwell, body, wheels arches

The State of the Interior.. this was after about 20 minutes of removing the babyseat, cuddly toys, crisp packets, chocolate wrappers, biros, paper, and all sorts of bits.that a family car seems to accumulate.

All door shuts/ doors, hinges, door sills etc sprayed liberally with G101 through a sprayer with foaming head and agitated with Envy and Vikan brushes of different sizes. Hosed down and given a spray of ONR QD then dried with MF towel.

Interior was tackled with Espuma Fabricare and Dasheen (and Espuma new car smell stuff), really loving these products and will be doing a replen when they run out. No pictures but the matts were beaten and stiff brushed with a carpet brush. Fabricare liberally applied through foaming head spray bottle and left for about 5 minutes; scrubbed with brush again and wiped off with damp MF...repeated until clean.

Foamed with Magifoam using AB Foam lance - couple of inches in the bottle topped with water. Left to dwell for about 40 minutes and then tyres scrubbed using foam with Vikan wheel brush. No pictures but arches/ under skills cleaned using vikan brushes.

54.jpg

Set to work on the Wheels. Espuma Revolution and Espuma RD50 for tyres. Tardis and IronX to decomtaminate. Polished with Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Strong, Colinite 845 applied as protection

Body Rinsed, stubborn remaining bits treated with G101 APC through sprayer. G101 applied to badges, grills, handles, rubbers, roof bars etc and agitated using Envy brushes.

ONR applied with a sprayer and left to dwell and then follow with ONR two bucket wash and dryed using Eurow Blue Fluffy towels and Uber Fluffy Yellow Towels.

So the wash was done so now onto decomtamination - Used IronX on body, glass, wheels andTardis. Clayed with yellow poly-clay and ONR as lube. Not a lot came off following IronX.

Paint clean/ correction/protection was AutoBrite Cherry Glaze applied with Sonus MF Pads.

68.jpg

My next favourite product (2nd to IronX) is VP Dionysus Trim Glitz. Applied to all plastic trim, grills, black side sills and bottom of bumpers. This is by far the best trim product used so far. Below is a 50/50 and it really makes a difference and restores nice finish.

Glass polished/sealed with Jeffs prime Strong - interior with Espuma Green Crystal
BriteMax Twins on the exhaust - wirewool and wet n dry paper.

And now some afters.

Really must invest in a decent camera and learn how to take shots that show the results to best effect.

Started to run out of daylight as can be seen above and so move into neighbours garage to give a final wipedown with ONR QD and applied Colinite 845 as the LSP of choice for the winter protection
