Used to love these cars, was the only Coupe with a carb, a big Solex one too! I remember back in their day, everyone used to call them "Audi quattro"!

These were the first Audi models I cut my teeth on, I owned 4 of them, 3 manuals, and 1 auto.

My favourite was the 1981 model, with the 4 square headlamps. I reckon with the carb, it was less refined than the injected models, but it emphasized the delightful 5-cylinder "warble", really loved those cars!

They also had a slight PAS pump whine after about 80,000 miles, which added to their charm. I'd buy another one, if I could find one, and fully restore her to her former glory.

What do you guys think of these cars?

That one, yes. But, I mean the real early ones, with the small bumpers, seperate twin square headlamps, no sill covers, and of course, they were nowhere as refined as the one pictured above (which was designated type 85).
