1996 Audi 80 Cabriolet - Roof Problems

Hi everyone,

I own a 96 80 cabriolet. It is in good condition with low miles, but recently there has been a problem with the power roof. What started as an intermittent fault on the driver side roof cover catch (causing the mechanism to stick on opening) has escalated over 12 months and culminated last week in a total power failure in the roof mechanism. Does anyone have a similar experience to share? Also, can anyone recommend a source for a non-Audi replacement roof? I would prefer an original, but the cost vs. value of the car makes it a substantial maintenance undertaking.

I,ve just read about your roof problem. I,ve got a 97, 2.8 Cabriolet and had an intermittent problem with roof opening. I found a break in the boot loom going from the boot to the boot lid,where the loom bends at the hinge position.
