I wonder if anyone knows the basic difference in the 2 5 pot engines?
One has 115bhp and a 5 speed box and the SE ones have 140bhp and a 6 speed box.

Can a 6 speed be transplanted and are there any major differences or is it down to ECU or similar?

I missed a Quattro TDi by a day last week, all the ones I can find now are 115bhp and 5 speed. (sob sob)

Jay below is some technical data I got on elsawin on the different engines. AAT is the 115bhp and AEL is the 140bhp. They don't look to different so it must be down to fuelling/turbo charger

Nice one, yeah looks almost all the same.
I know I should hang on really and try to find a 6 speed if i'm gonna spend the cash, but it's getting annoying only having a bike and the cash sitting there is making me itch!
Things like S2 coupes keep appearing and I must resist!

The injectors are different between AAT and AEL models, same story with 90 and 110 hp passats. I read that the VW T4 van with 155hp has the biggest injectors, might be the way to go if upgrading...
Unlike the 4 cyl cars, the AAT and AEL both use the same KKK turbo.

Still looking for something, missed out on a 2.5 Quattro the other week too as I was working and it sold during the day!
Scotland is about as far away from me as it gets, being down in the Dover area. Shame. I haven't even driven one yet unfortunately, none are near me, but I may travel a bit to have a go in one.
I have also been tempted with a T5 locally, which would do as a stop gap, obviously nowhere near as good on fuel but big enough for what I want. It's very very clean and 1 owner too.
Could you get some details up on it?
