Problems with my Audi 5000S

I have a problems with my Audi 5000S that was made in 86.It wont idle and the temperature gague doesn't work at this time.I might think that what the problem is, but I'm not certain.I think it might deal with the Water Temp Sensor that is 2 pins and the water temp sender that is 4 pins.I don't know if those are the problems i have with my temp gague not working and the idle problem.I found a site that sells those two items, but i don't know if i should get them.Well, Could anyone help me on this problem.

I have an 86 audi 5000s that has been sitting for 7 years. When I picked it up it wouldn't start at all. I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel distributor and it stars fine and idles fine but when i push on the throttle it wants to die almost like it's not getting enough fuel or ?????? Any info would be much appreciated.
