Can anyone give advice on malfunctioning gauges - A3

i bought my A3 1.8T six months ago

last week, the dash gauges starting playing up - first with temp and fuel stuck on max. with speedo on zero,now the rev's on zero too. this only happens first thing in the morning.

is fine after running for a few minutes and switching ignition off/on.

any ideas/advice much appreicated- trying to avoid taking to audi - but think have no choice???

Same happened to me following a heavy bout of overnight lightening (i think that's what caused it).
All the dials went loopy and flashed on and off until the car warmed up. It also affected the alarm and the immobiliseron mine and also all the DIS readings.
Took it to Audi and they had to fit a new dashboard (the electrical parts in some sort of box or sommet within the dash). All's well now although the mpg according to the DIS is very low but that could also be the remap. Luckily i'm under warranty as it would have cost over £600 for the repair.
