Newbie looking for Coupe

Guest
Im after a coupe quattro, series 3-4.
Iv found a 2.8 V6 on the trader but cant find much else!

Can anyone give me some tips on what to look for if i go and check this one out. Its £1500 does this seem cheap?

Its in the birmingham area if any1 knows of the car. Its trade.

Could you give me anything i need to look for and anything to be wary of?

Cheers all!
Charlie

Thing to look out for is the Steering Pump Leaking,Usual stuff like the bushs and Track control arms (play in these areas) Look at the wear pattern on the tyres this will give you some sort of indication to how they are
The engine is a very good one ,I had the same in my Last Audi 100 the only problem that i ever had with it was a slight stutter/flat spot at 4000rpm which i found to be the coils causing this ,so look out for that

Finding one follow link, two S2 for sale at pretty good price in my book

welcome to the forum Charlie,
check door seals - they can leak or whistle at speeds
front wishbone and sub-frame bushes
rear brake calipers sieze (make sure handbrake works and releases proper)
shouldn`t be any rust it`s galvanised !
any transmission noise - walk away

i`m with Rev-head, don`t rule out an S2 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Cheers guys.. that gives me sum good stuff to look at.
I'm callin about the v6 today so ill let you know what i found out but does 1500 seem cheap for a 2.8 V6 quattro? Not sure how many miles its done yet as they havnt been posted.
Full cream leather too....

The S2 would be wonderfull, but im 21 and have a budget of up to 2300.

I'd ideally like the 2.3 20V but cant find one anywhere!

Thanx again!

try not to get impatient, make sure its a goodun before you buy it, don`t just buy the first one you see for the sake of it. they are about and there will be others /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

if you get it cheap enough you could get the paint touched up no probs !

Just seen that one Dave.... was about to go look at a mk 5 prelude 2.2 Vtec today. It had sold... glad iv read ur posts now!

Iv mailed him, its not at the reserve yet... but i do have cash waiting! If i can get for about 1500, du think i should get a good service (AM Cars ilminster? Quattro Specialist!) and get the paint tidied?

Cheers all!
If any1 knows him tell him i want it! hehehe

hi Charlie,
the car sounds genuine enough but you`ve only got the sellers word for it and he has no feedback so common sense comes into play. Try and get a landline phone number etc.
But its worth a speculative bid IMHO. But like you say, leave yourself a budget for paint touch up etc. Only blow your budget in one go if you are completely confident about your purchase, ie :- viewed and test driven and completely satisfied.
Obviously all IMHO /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

yeah, yet to hear from him, but hopefully he's only just found ebay.... not sum scamer!
I put up 1500, but the reserve is not met. Its not too far from me, so i can have a good look over it. But id like a bit to spend on it after!

Full service would be nice. Any1 think of anythin else it could do with/need.

159,000miles seems quite high.

His respone...

Hey Charlie really sorry for not responding was not being cheeky, thought it
would sell the first time and had booked my time off work so i could go
surfing. Anyway the person who was going to purchase didn't have all the
money which he bid but does have £1400 and has had a report on the car and
is willing to pay this price and collect the car on Thursday. The report
which he carried out found the only faults in the car were small chip in the
windscreen, and tax which ran out at the end of last month. I have a copy of
the HPI report from when i purchased the car, i have two mot's for the car
and have the handbook but no logbook. I also have a reciept for work which i
had carried out on the car from it's mot which totaled £500 although it
passed without this work being carried out, mechanic mate tho thought it
would be best to replace some parts to ensure the smooth running of the car,
also have some reciepts from the previous owner. All the best and sorry for
the late delay in responding to you Scott.

How can i tax it with no V5? what implementations are there by it not having a V5?

V5 reggie documents,Logbook is for the service History is this what you mean?

Go down have a drive of the car first if it is near you better been safe than sorry

Cheers
