    I got a Chip and spin Remap

    I went to see Mark from Chip N Spin on Sunday morning as he only lives 10 minutes away from me to get my S3 225 (BAM) remapped. I was very impressed with the service from Mark and he was willing to answer any questions/concerns I had. Mark is a ChippedUK dealer so I was getting a remap from a well established tuning company and Mark is also an IT engineer during the week so he knows his stuff.

    Mark ran a diagnostics tool similar to VAGCOM on the car first to ensure that it was fault free. He then took a copy of the standard ECU settings and sent them to ChippedUK. ChippedUK then do their jiggery pokery and email it back so Mark can upload it to the ECU. Mark then ran another diag to make sure no new errors had appeared, then we went for a spin.

    The remap is a smooth progressive map as you can see from my graphs but the throttle response was noticable as soon as I pulled away. I think Mark was impressed too as he seemed to be holding on tightly when I opened it up

    I have run some data logging using VAGCOM and I have some before and after results which can be viewed in the 3 links in my signature.

    STANDARD

    Boost = 11.5 PSI
    BHP = 221
    Torque = 227 lbft

    MAPPED

    Boost = 20 PSI
    BHP = 257
    Torque = 270 lbft

    The only mods I have are a 007P Forge Recirc valve and a green air filter. I think as standard the 007P comes with a green spring (can someone clarify?) so I will need to upgrade to the yellow spring which may increase my figures slightly as I'm sure i'm currently leaking a bit of boost.

    Mark is currently doing a cracking deal for all AS forum users and the remap is a generic map that most of the big name companies are doing at twice the price! I fully recommend Mark and Chip 'n' Spin

    Looks good.Makes a hell of a difference. I too got a Custom Code remap, Forge 007P and green filter. I didn't know about the srping in the filter though? Seems to hold boost well.

    Hows your clutch coping? 5th and 6th gear are the worst!

    Clutch is ok so far but the car has done 110K on the original (mainly motorway miles) so i'm expecting it to go soonish then i'll get an uprated one.

    The chip n spin map has been set to progressively apply the torque where as some of the other maps you can get will smash the torque in hard which will shorten the life of the standard clutch. My car has done 110k and I have no paperwork from the previous owners to suggest that the clutch has ever been changed so I'm expecting mine to go soonish.
