Sat Nav wont work...........

Hi I have a 2004 A6 Final Edition which came with a the 2004 version dvd navigation. I had my frien copy his later version which was the 2005 map of western europe and the 2007 map of eastern europe. I placed the 2007 DVD map into my sat nav and it updated my system. I then went to put in the 2005 version of western europe and it does not work and neither does my original 2004 version of western europe. The only one which does work is the 2007 version of eastern europe. Which is of course very little use to me . Can anyone help or direct me me in the right direction...excuse the pun Oh there is a message which comes up on the sat nav screen which tells me to pay a visit to my dealer.....urrrrrrrrrrgh

Buy a genuine disk for late 2005 or above.

2005_1, 2005_2, 2006, 2007 all work

It is a known issue for people upgrading, once they go past SW0100 the disks are unreadable.

But you can also force a down grade if you have VAG COM. Set adaptation channel 97 to 1 and the system will downgrade when you insert your old disk.

Hey thanks for the reply....I will do as you say...Will a 2008 version work with my RNS-E...my software version is 0550 an HW=50.....What does the HW stand for?

HW = Hardware. A 2008 DVD will be fine.
