my bose sub has blown. where can I get another one from?

Or alternatively, can I install the active (mac audio) sub from my old car, ie are all the connections the same etc?

Ebay is your best bet.
If you wanted to go aftermarket you'd need to run power as the frugal Bose sub only has a 5amp connection, but all the other wiring can be easily taken from the stock loom i.e. left & right pre-outs & remote on:
