s3 2000 standard head unit

Hi i was wondering if anyone had the same prob as me. When i start the car fisrt thing i reach over to the volume and for some reason even if i turn it down it shoot up to full blast(not to good at 4 30 am) is this just me or dose anyone else have this problem. Iv also noticed that my passenger door speaker is distorted for about 20 mins in the morning??
