Completed my Zune install today, thought I'd share a few pics and see what you guys thought
Was going to do a full install/write up but it was so simple I couldnt really see much point!

Started off by popping out the glovebox and RNS-E, connected up the Dietz 1417, only 4 wires required - can hi/low, 12v+ and earth, ran a switched ignition feed from the rear of the fusebox at the drivers side to provide power for Zune dock and IR extender I installed so that you can use the Zune's remote with the glovebox in the closed position.

Next fed the IR extender wire under the centre console and fixed it above the ashtray, was thinking of recessing it into the climate panel but decided against making irreversible holes in expensive panels!

Then fed the AV cable through the rear of the glovebox along the with IR cable and Zune dock power leads, connected to the Dietz and re-fitted the the glovebox and RNS-E and fitted the Zune and its Docking station into the glovebox

Also coded the RNS-E to enable VideoInMotion so the screen still stays on above 5kph. Sound quality is just like CD's, with the added bonus of full track names on screen and movies as well, Ideal solution for me.

Cool. I don't think I have ever seen a Zune though! What do you think of it?

Pretty similar to the video Ipod I guess, Its 30GB, about 3000 tracks on so far. It can play video's, has an FM radio and you can transfer songs between other Zunes' using the inbuilt wireless transmitter. Picked it up in the states a few weeks ago for £105.

Is that one with the new Zune interface on it? If not I heard that MS were letting you download the new firmware even for older Zunes for free. Not sure if that is any help to you, just something I remember reading online the other day!

Are the Zune's any good? I've put off getting an ipod for years because I can't stand itunes.

Yeah it's running the latest firmware, its only about a month old. I only bought it to fit to the car, as the Ipod cant output its entire GUI via the A/V cable like the Zune can. This is about as good a solution as I can come up with to have track names and video playback on the RNS-E screen. I couldnt really comment on its performance vs. an Ipod but it does exactly what I need it to!

Thanks Issac, That scuppers my plans for video out (to see the gui) from the iPod.
