I've got a 2003 A3 Tdi (facelift, old shape) and its got a chorus tape head unit in it, which whilst ok for the radio is totally useless as i dont own any tapes.

What options do i have for replacing it with another genuine audi unit that does CD's or can i add a CD changer, in which case is it likely to be prewired for fitting?

Changer would be the esiest upgrade if it's prewired.
If it is prewired then the Bus cable is in the left hand cubbyhole right at the back (towards the front of the car, past the rear seatbelt reel). It's a black plug that should be clipped to the bodywork with a white clip, shown below with the panels removed. You can pick up genuine changers on ebay for about £80, it needs to be the 13 pin (only 10 pins wired) version, not the 8 pin one:

Would i have to remove the panels/seats etc to get at it? Not overly keen if i do!!!

What about changing the head unit, is there a standard audi single CD that would slot in instead?

Does anyone know if i can use a concert cd head unit as a direct replacement?
