6Cd Autochanger

Hi All

I currently have a 2001 A3 1.9TDI fitted with concert head unit and 6 CD Autochanger. The Autochanger has now failed with 'Cd load error', so i guess it is time for replacement. i've spotted a Panasonic DP6000 on Ebay
from a 1999 A3. Would this be ok as a direct swap ?

Also, the whole CD changer / sub box is proving almost impossible to get
out the side bay without the CD unit being removed. Any advice how i get
the CD unit off the top please ???

It is a straight swap, but the Panasonic needs the adapter cable to plug into the existing changer loom (10/13 pin). Also I fitted one of these for a friend and experienced very slight alternator whine just when using the changer, so I'd go for an OEM changer if you can.
Don't quite know what you mean about removing the sub/changer. You should have a cage mounted above the sub, which the changer is screwed into. You need a righthangled hex driver to get to the screws without having to remove the boot trim.
