can i squeeze 8" focal speakers in audi a6 front doors?

i'm thinking about trying to get an 8" focal speaker in my front doors of my audi a6 rather than the recommended 6.5".
I've been offered them for a pretty good price!

anyone tried or recommend it?

Doubt they'd fit if the doors are anything like the B6 A4. The stock units are on 40mm spacers to give them enough depth and fit snugly to the door card. You could probably squeeze them in there but any benefit of the 1.5" would be lost. Also if you're driving them off the stock HU then it'll struggle with its meagre 20w output.

i've had the door panel off and scrapped that idea now.

a shame as the 8" focal speakers were a good price but I guess they need to be mounted correctly to sound their best.

just bought myself a recaro nappa leather RS6 interior with matching door cards so messing with them is out of the question.
