Incar DVD issues

I have a Pioneer Avic touch screen system, but wondered how i put mpegs onto CD to watch them incar. Obviously i know how to burn music onto blank CDs but wondered if mpegs were any different, i.e. do i have to use blank DVDs instead. Also what software do people use to burn their discs ready for incar usage?

Thanks in advance. Its being fitted tomorrow so trying to get some discs sorted tonight....
