Stereo Problem

I recently had a flat battery and now the Bose Chorus Stereo needs a code to be put in. I have followed the handbook instructions, holding down the tp and rds buttons but it still says SAFE.
Please Help!!!!

Try it with the ignition on.
Also sometimes you really have to push hard on the buttons to get the zero's to come up.
