Radio Code and possible replacement
I had to disconnect the battery on my A6 due to the drain hole being blocked.
I obviously forgot about the radio and had to phone a dealer to get the code (second hand car with the code card removed).
I received the code, but it does not work and "safe" is happily flashing away when I try to unlock.
What can I do from here?
I was thinking of changing the Head unit for a Blaupunkt Head unit, but have been told it will cause a problem with the car diagnostics?
Is that right.
The car is a 1999 A6 Avant 1.8T.
Thanks in advance.
Make sure you are entering the code using the right sequence, only using the 1-4 buttons i.e. if the code is 2345, you don't just press 2345 on the keypad, you have to press "1" twice, then "2" three times, "3" four times and "4" five times.
Also do it with the ignition on, or engine running as some units only seem to unlock when this is the case.
No an aftermarket HU will not affect diagnostics

I'm following the correct method I think.
TD & RDS buttons (far right top and bottom) and entering the code 07*8.
I have not tried with the engine running yet though.
I'll give it a go
After entering the code so it appears on the screen you then have to press TP & RDS together again
dont forget you only get three tries, then you have to leave the car on for an hour before you can try it again
